In 2007, with the support of the National Program for Competitiveness (PRONACOM) and the Guatemalan Exporters Association, leaders of the BPO industry in Guatemala founded the Contact Center and BPO cluster. The purpose of this cluster is to promote training, set industry standards and strengthen the region’s human capital with English knowledge.

The Call Center Alliance was founded at the end of 2009 by the leading call centers in the country, AMCHAM and PROESA (Salvadoran Agency for Investment Promotion). The call centers associated employ over 75% of the agents in the Salvadoran BPO industry.
